Some of our Residents
White SocksI came to Ironwood when I was a little baby. My brother and I were adopted and lived with a couple for two years. Then the neighbors complained about us and we were forced to leave and ended up back here at the sanctuary. ---White Socks
PepeI was brought to the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary along with the rest of my family from St. Matilda’s sanctuary this summer after my caregiver suddenly moved and my family and I needed a new home. I originally came with my mom, dad and several brothers all the way from Florida from a big case of animal abuse and neglect. We all live in the Northwest field with the other pigs from St Matilda’s. I like it here and hope I never have to move again. ---Pepe
Dixie LeeI have been living here for many, many years. My best friend is Claire. We share a shelter and do almost everything together. ---Dixie Lee
DuaneI came here with six siblings who were found wandering in a rural area. Some nice people let us come in and eat from their garden until the people from Ironwood could come get us. ---Duane
ErnieI came to Ironwood with my brother Bert after our owners moved to a place not zoned for pigs. I had been attacked by dogs and have a huge scar on my sidel. I am safe and content living here. ---Ernie
MasonMy owners had a bunch of dogs who attacked me and bit off both my ears. Boy, was I glad to get out of there! Now I live in a big field with nothing but pigs and it’s great! ---Pepe
Miss PiggyI live in a small field set aside for senior citizens. We have an easy life with all our comforts attended to. I have serveral close friends like Dolly, Shelby and Penny that I spend time with. ---Miss Piggy
MollyI was a stray that was found back in 2005. A woman helped me into her yard then called Ironwood to come get me. I was really scared and shy, so they let me live in one of the Assisted Living fields so I would feel safe. I love it here now! ---Molly
PebblesI came here with my sister Ashley. We were both skinny and covered with ticks...yuk! After lots of vitamins, food and tick shampoo, life is great. I live in a big field with a buch of other pigs and get all the food I need. Love it!! ---Peggles
Roger DodgerI was living a tough street life scrounging for scraps and just getting by before someone helped me get to Ironwood. Now I get plenty of food, have great friends, sleep in a shelter and get belly rubs. What more could a pig want! ---Roger Dodger
SocksI live at Ironwood’s Annex. I am really shy around people, but I love being with the other pigs here. There are several of us that share a shelter, We have lost of room to wander around, so it’s a nice place to live. ---Socks
